9/10/2020 - Woodward's Rage revelations and voter suppression
Friends,
Another week, another series of "revelations" that only serve to reinforce the importance of a blue wave come November. Not that we needed Bob Woodward's validation, but the richness of his data and insights from his array of voluntary interviews with Dear Leader is almost too much to bear. While we've had abundant evidence of the president's disrespect of our military, his irresponsible and partisan handling of the pandemic and his indifference towards racial inequality, the stark nature of his *confessions* in the Woodward strongly reinforces what we've already known: four more years of a Trump presidency and a Republican senate could set our country back generations, and I don't think I'm being hyperbolic. Between the likely Supreme Court appointments and the continuing fomenting of racial animus, we will be a country brimming with diversity of ethnicities, backgrounds and perspectives that is largely ruled by a tiny group of very rich, deeply entrenched, "religious", Christian, white men with guns - lots of guns.
So while you ponder that, consider that the Democrats have allowed this to happen at the state level dating back almost 50 years, and this takeover has only picked up steam in the post-Reagan era. While we here are being asked to do a lot of heavy lifting in a very short span of time, how can we afford not to? We got a taste of what's possible when we organize, activate and VOTE in 2018, but given the campaign interference by foreign states and the voter suppression being pushed by the Republicans at both state and federal levels, it will literally have to be a Blue Wave in order for Joe, Kamala and those down ticket to have the mandate necessary to govern. Ok, so let's not get angry - no, let's definitely get angry, but use that anger to give, write, volunteer and urge everyone to vote. In person if at all possible. Carin and I are committed to masking up and hitting the polls on Election Day. We want our votes counted as quickly as possible!
I've attached a series of events, but want to call out a fundraiser that Carin and I are co-hosting that is a conversation with Kamala Harris next Thursday, September 17th at 6:15pm ET. Some on this list have already given and for that we're deeply grateful. But if you haven't given to participate in this event, please sign up and donate at the link below. While none of us wishes that the amount of money being spent was necessary to compete for the White House, until the Supreme Court overturns Citizens United this is the field we've been given on which to play, and play we must. WE'RE APPROACHING 50 DAYS, PEOPLE. THERE IS NO TIME TO WASTE. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN - NOW.
